All sorts of stuff that I can't show you... Every time something gets done, it gets covered. The master shower, the front entry, the wood floor. Probably good thing since the paint will start to fly in the next few days.
Sorry about the order of this post, it's via iPhone, so not as much control.
Done this week:
:) kitchen cabinets installed
:( kitchen cabs had one unintended "feature" - had to build out the soffit above the fridge cabinet because the moulding would have stick out
:) hood installed
:) granite measured
:) tile completed
:( it's killing me that I can't see it because...
:) painter masked the entire upstairs
:) stair treads mostly installed but
:( lumber yard originally ordered the wrong newel posts - thank goodness that was caught, they were hideous
:) chose all remaining kitchen appliances (will probably cover in more detail once installed) - thank you Warners Stellian!
:( met with landscaper and became completely overwhelmed with the needed work that is outside of the build budget
:( Front door arrived and was not what we expected, another lumberyard switcheroo, reordered a different door, but...
:) we now get a free service door for the garage
Up this week:
- paint in the upstairs!
- hopefully flooring will get installed in the mudroom
- stair rails installed
- garage building begins
And now for random pictures!

Siding & Soffit
Sidling up to Hardie Siding
Siding is going up with a little break for the snow. You can see the difference with the larger boards on the lower section. We are so glad it is looking good, we had really wanted stucco. I think we'll be pleased with our choice, doesn't look at all like a second choice.

Soffit!
The soffit is up and looking sharp! Yet another thing that we are very glad looks good since it wasn't our first choice. Our biggest worry was that it would look too busy with the siding - I think we're safe.

Inspections and Insulation
Tomorrow, we have the framing, electrical and plumbing inspections. With that complete, insulation will be able to to begin. We are doing a kind of insulation called fiberglass bib or blown-in-batts. This was a good middle ground between fiberglass (known for gapping and voids, but cheap) and foam (good seal, but expensive).
Clues into the Future
A few glimpses into the future work ahead.
- Sheet rock should begin next week Tuesday and last about 3 weeks
- Wood flooring is being measured this week, and will go in after the sheet rock
- Choices to make: Front door, tile, paint colors
